2023
My goodness…..it’s 2023!
Happy new year all! ;-)
We closed for our annual break from 4th December 2022 & re-opened on Wednesday 25th January 2023. We worked tirelessly to improve & upgrade the hotel, painting, maintenance & new carpet in all public areas - all of the things we are not able to get done during the busy season.
For weeks, we worked day in, day out getting everything ready for re-opening. Opening day didnt quite go to plan, as chef decided not to return & left us not being able to honour dinner reservations & with hundreds of pounds worth of stock sitting there.
For those of you that know us, you’ll know we dont do things by halves - Could we have muddled though & kept the kitchen open?….Yes! Would it have been to the high standard that we like to offer…..possibly not!
Finding good staff isn’t easy in any sector these days, especially in hospitality. We thought long & hard about what we were going to do & decided, as a family, that the best solution as was close the in-house restaurant for evening meals, permanently. The team we do have are fantastic….but without a full team, we are unable to function effectively. This effects us personally & from a business perspective - so closing the restaurant was the right thing to do, given the position we had been put in.
We are happy to be working along some local eateries. The following restaurants will all offer our hotel guests 10% discount of their food bill.
Home Cookin’ (collect a discount card from reception)
The LC Drink & Dine
Snooze Wine Bar
The Queen Victoria Pub
We would advise booking direct, in advance, to ensure they can accommodate.
So all in all, a busy start to the year & we are looking forward to what we do best….comfortable beds & hearty breakfasts & focusing on our guest experience.
Until next time…. Hannah xx
September, October & November
So here I am again! My initial plan for a monthly blog, hasn’t gone to plan, as you can see! Im not quite sure when the summer went, but its certainly winter now! Our fire is on, as is the coffee machine & I’m grateful it’s cosy inside! The hotel is a little quieter now as we are out of season & we do have some available rooms midweek & a handful on the weekends. Ideal for a last minute break & spot of Christmas shopping before the big day!
Our Black Friday Gift Voucher Offer proved very popular & we have decided to keep it running throughout December - check out our Facebook page for full details or give us a call on 01492 871150.
We are open for Christmas and still have a couple of rooms available of you’d like to join us, you can call or book online - we are fully booked for New Year.
Even though we may not be as busy as we are in the summer - there is never a dull moment here, our team are still working tirelessly as always, there are still lots of jobs to be done. We are in the process of getting through “Scott’s To Do” list & are looking forward to new carpets in January.
I would all like to thank our loyal guests for returning to us time & time again after the most unsettling last 18 months or so. We have welcomed so many lovely guests through our doors since we have been able to re-open after lockdowns etc & are so grateful that our regular guests have returned & new guests have chosen to stay with us.
Whatever you’re doing, and whoever you’re spending it with, I hope you all have a lovely Christmas & New Year period & we look forward to another busy season in 2022.

August
So here we are again, another month has nearly passed us by! It’s been another busy time for us. We have been running at full occupancy, on a minimal amount of staff - not an easy month but its been great to be so busy again after such an uncertain start to the year. Bookings are still flying in for the remainder of 2021 & for 2022. We even have some for 2023 would you believe?!
We are hiring & have positions available for a Head Chef & housekeeper roles (see our “Join our Team’ tab for more information).
We are open for Christmas & New Year & still have some vacancies over the festive period, you can book or check availability online or over the phone.
We no longer own the pub, The LC Drink & Dine, this has been taken over by Darren & Emma Cooper, we wish them well & continued success. There will still be live entrainment on the weekends & the popular Carvery served every Sunday.
May, June & July!
Oooops!…..Where have the last 3 months gone?! They’ve absolutely flown by. It’s sooooo good to be able to welcome guests back to a more ‘Normal’ environment.
Our bar, lounges & dining rooms have re-opened & are as popular as ever - it’s so nice to feel the warm, friendly vibe around the hotel again. Mask are no longer compulsory - but of course if a staff member, or guest, chooses to wear one, this is welcomed. There are still some changes that we’ve kept for now, our housekeeping team do not enter your room whilst you’re with us, unless requested.
We have an absolutely amazing team who are all working super hard - it’s no secret that the whole of the UK hospitality sector are struggling to find additional staff for the peak season due to the current situation - no-one is applying for new jobs as they wouldn’t be covered by furlough in a new role if we were unlucky enough to be locked down again - so the staff we do have are being stretched in all directions & working even harder than usual!
We are proud to say that we were able to furlough all of our team over the last 18 months - however, some of the team found other jobs in the period, whilst we were unable to open - this has left us a little thin on the ground. As always, we are still offering the best service possible & are so grateful to welcome in so many lovely guests from all over the UK.
We are practically fully booked until the end of September, with the odd spaces here & there. We do get guests that need to cancel or reschedule their bookings, so it’s always worthwhile keeping an eye on our Facebook page & online booking system - cancellations are posted on there & our website availability is always completely up to date.
We have a new addition to our bar area - a very popular already, coffee machine. It’s a very welcome addition, that’s proving popular throughout our guests break away with us, especially grabbing a coffee/hot chocolate on checkout to take on the journey home!
Wherever you’re spending your summer, we hope you’re enjoying yourselves & if we haven’t welcomed you back, or had the pleasure of welcoming you at all yet - we hope to in the, not too distant, future!
Hannah & Co :-) x
April 2021
So here we are again, it’s nearly the end of April already - how did that happen?!
It’s probably been the most positive month in the last year or so. Going forward, things are looking up & we have a date from when we can open the hotel in a more ‘normal’ way!
From May 17th, our public areas can reopen. Room service will still be an option & breakfast & evening meals can be served in the dining rooms & restaurant - this is really great news! The lounge & bar areas can reopen too!
We’ve been very fortunate to look after a team of 20 RAF members since the end of February. They were a great bunch & stayed here whilst carrying out important duties here in Llandudno. We feel very privileged that we were able to look after the group for 61 nights in total. As we have to open on a self contained basis, the breakfast & evening meals were served to their room every day, as were their evening meals. We provided a daily packed lunch for them too. It was our absolute pleasure to look after such a great group of guys & gals.
We’ve been working hard to update the outside areas. When complete, the fronts of the hotels will be levelled off & easily accessed. The project should be complete by the end of May.
Bank Holiday weekend is fast approaching & we still have some availability. Bookings have been flying in from 17th May onwards, if you’re not booked in yet & choosing to visit us here, don’t delay!
March 2021
Hannah here, back again with a monthly update!
Can you believe it’s nearly the end of March already……….who’d have thought we’d still be in this situation 12 months on?!
However, things are looking promising & looks as if we can reopen from Monday 29th March 2021, for Welsh residents only at this stage.
It goes without saying that we’d love to welcome everyone back to stay with us here in Llandudno - but of course, it’s not possible, just yet.
All being well, in this Friday’s announcement from the Welsh Minister, it’s almost certain he’ll confirm that we can reopen on a self contained basis. This means all meals served to your room - as always, we embrace change & we will make the best of the situation. We’ve done it before & its worked well & our guests were happy. Our team will enjoy serving breakfast & dinner to guest rooms whilst the public areas & dining rooms have to remain closed.
Room Service - Our ‘LCHOTELS’ App will come in very handy during this period, you are able to order food & drinks from our bar, from the comfort of your own room! If you haven’t downloaded it yet, it’s available via AppStore or GooglePlay, search ‘LCHOTELS’. There are lots of handy tools on the App that are relevant before & during your stay with us, any special offers get uploaded to the App 1st!.
If you follow our Facebook page, you may have seen 10 year old Jack, one of our regular guests, that stays with numerous times throughout the year. He & his parents love Llandudno. As his trips to LC Hotels weren’t able to go ahead as planned in 2020, Jack decided to run the equivalent distance from his house, to Llandudno instead. In total, this was 91 miles. He raised funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, a charity very important to him, as his dad is a sufferer. To date, Jack has raised over £450.00 & completed the challenge over a 28 day period. What an amazing achievement - well done Jack!
Here in Wales, it’s only essential shops & garden centres that are currently open, along with some cafes for takeaways, so it’s certainly not anywhere as busy as it would be usually at this time of year, but the town has a lovely vibe. It’s getting busier slowly & as the weather is getting better, its lovely to see more people out & about. Lots of walkers & cyclists on & around the Great Orme, and couples & families strolling on the Victorian Promenade - socially distanced of course!
We remain hopeful for the future as we are certainly heading in the right direction.
Just remember, each day that passes, is a day closer to your break away at the seaside!
February 2021 - Update
Hasn’t it been a long year?….It’s hard to believe its only February!
So here we are, hopefully, travelling towards the end of the Welsh Lockdown No.3!
We are staying positive at this stage & looking forward to a time when we can re-open, it’ll be great to welcome guests through the door again.
It’s looking promising that we may be able to reopen for Easter 2021 - of course its all ‘ifs & buts’, but we remain hopeful.
It’s likely that we’ll be having to open on self contained basis at first, breakfast & evening meals served to your room. It worked well in July 2020 & we are always looking for ways to improve, so we are confident that when we can welcome you back to LC Hotels again, you’ll all be happy with the service that we can provide.
The Welsh Mountain Kashmir Goats have been ruling Llandudno since footfall has decreased, popping down from the Great Orme to enjoy the North Wales coast whilst the streets have been so empty. I think even the goats are ready for the holiday makers to return now!
And the seagulls…..they are certainly missing the tourists - they are starving! They haven’t been able to steal any ice-cream or chips for some time now!
We will keep you updated as soon as we know more confirmed details, keep an eye on our Facebook page for the most up to date news.
